Care & Maintenance
Proper care will keep your fixture looking good for years. Here are some practical guidelines by material.
Alabaster
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth
- For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth — never soak
- Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and anything acidic (vinegar, citrus cleaners)
- Alabaster is porous — keep it dry and don't spray cleaning products directly on it
- Minor color variations and veining differences are normal for natural stone
Crystal
- Dust with a lint-free cloth
- For deeper cleaning, spray glass cleaner onto the cloth, not the crystal
- Handle crystal components carefully — they're heavier than they look
- Avoid touching crystal with bare hands when possible; fingerprints can etch over time
Metal Hardware (Brass, Iron, Stainless Steel)
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth
- For brass: lacquered finishes just need dusting; unlacquered brass can be cleaned with brass polish if desired
- For powder-coated iron: wipe with a dry cloth, avoid scratching the coating
- For stainless steel/chrome: mild soap and water if needed, dry thoroughly
General Tips
- Turn off the fixture and let bulbs cool before cleaning
- Never spray liquid directly onto electrical components
- If your fixture uses dimmable LEDs, make sure your dimmer switch is LED-compatible
- For high or hard-to-reach fixtures, consider hiring a professional for periodic deep cleaning
